This means there is no law that allows the state government, including appraisal districts, to force you to provide it with sales price information, thus for tax reasons, few buyers report what they bought their property for. The sales price does not have to be disclosed to anyone.
- That’s why sites like Zillow and Trulia don’t have any public record data to pull, and why you won’t sales see any for Texas properties, and if you do see estimates, they are usually highly inaccurate.
- The Texas Legislature has consistently argued that expanding government intrusion into the private lives of Texans is not an option. In other words, Texas will continue to remain a non-disclosure state.
